Pothole Menace in Mumbai: Call for Justice and Accountability!

28 July 2018 – Renowned actor Zayed Khan has pledged to support Dadabhai Bilhore, who fills potholes in Mumbai as a tribute to his son, who tragically died in a pothole-related accident. This commitment was made during a seminar organized by former bureaucrat, social activist, and lawyer Abha Singh, focusing on LGBT rights, adultery laws, and the pothole menace in Mumbai.

The event was hosted by Abha Singh and Advocate Aditya Pratap, with Zayed Khan gracing the occasion as the guest of honor. Lending his voice to Mumbai’s civic challenges, Khan expressed his solidarity with Dadabhai Bilhore’s mission to address the city’s pothole issues.

Speaking at the event, Zayed Khan highlighted Mumbai’s infrastructure problems. He noted that the city was originally designed to support a population of 60 to 70 lakh but is now burdened with over 2.25 crore people. He stressed the urgent need for improved social and civic infrastructure and commended Abha Singh and her team for their efforts, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Advocate Aditya Pratap also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need to combat corruption and urging citizens to take up civic issues themselves. He said, “The strategy to tackle the pothole menace in Mumbai is to hold the BMC accountable by imposing significant financial penalties for any deaths or injuries caused by potholes. This can be achieved through effective civil litigation and the awarding of substantial damages. However, the deplorable state of India’s courts and the massive backlog of cases present significant challenges to achieving this goal.

The seminar was attended by prominent personalities, including entrepreneur Parvez Damania, Aneel Moraraka, actor Naazneen Bedi, Nandita Puri, and Parikshit Sahni. Lawyers and interns working with Abha Singh delivered insightful presentations on adultery laws, LGBT rights, and the pothole menace in Mumbai.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session led by Advocate Aditya Pratap on the “Food in Cinemas” case, which has gained attention nationwide.
